Altar Servers

Students in grades 5 - 8 are invited to serve St. Thérèse of Carmel Parish as Altar Servers. After approval by the Pastor and initial training, students will be scheduled to serve for various parish Masses on weekends and at school Masses. Ongoing training is a requirement. Time served as Altar Servers may be counted for Christian service hours.

Mission Outreach

Each year, Notre Dame Academy sponsors a number of outreach projects to help the less fortunate. The majority of these outreach projects, spearheaded by the students, benefit the local community. Notre Dame Academy will host a chapter of Kids Korp, a community service organization, which will help Notre Dame Academy families participate and record their involvement in community service.

Notre Dame Academy community service projects include Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter outreach projects. In addition, clubs, teams, and other campus groups may organize outreach projects throughout the school year.

Some outreach projects include collecting items, such as blankets, toiletries, socks, diapers, and food, for local organizations and Catholic Charities of San Diego County. These projects are a wonderful opportunity for each one to reflect on God's goodness to us.

Middle School Service Hours

Students in Grade 6 are required to perform ten (10) hours of Christian service during the school year. Students in Grades 7 and 8 are required to perform twenty hours (20) hours of Christian service during the school year.

These service hours are a requirement for promotion from 6th to 7th grade, 7th to 8th grade, and for graduation from 8th grade. Service hours may include assisting in the school, at the church, or in the community. If service hours are performed for an organization, the organization must be a non-profit organization. If service is done for an individual, it must be approved in advance by the principal.

Each student is responsible to turn in service hours on the Student Service Hours Record Sheet.
